What is the difference between Practice and Practice + AI?

LawHand Practice is $89 per user per month billed annually, or $109 month to month. It covers practice management: intake, client portal, e-signature, billing, documents and templates, and it includes no AI at all. LawHand Practice + AI is $199 per user per month billed annually, or $239 month to month. It adds Standard AI for legal research chat, drafting, document analysis and practice-module AI skills, Research and Workspace MCP with no per-call charge, and one practice module.

How is AI billed?

Standard AI is included with every Practice + AI and Staff + AI seat, with no per-action charge. Premium AI is billed on top, and only when someone chooses it: each Premium request uses one action from prepaid Premium AI credits the firm buys, 250 Premium actions for $35 a pack. When the credits run out, Premium requests stop until an administrator buys more, and the firm's billing contacts are emailed. There are no overage charges, and Standard AI keeps working.

Can one firm mix seats with and without AI?

Yes. AI follows each person's seat, not the firm: someone on a Practice or Staff seat gets no AI, even when colleagues hold AI seats. Staff seats are $39 per user per month billed annually ($49 month to month), or $129 ($159) for Staff + AI, which includes Standard AI and MCP. Practice modules are bought once for the firm: their workspaces work for every seat, and their AI skills need an AI seat.

How are practice modules priced?

Modules are priced per firm, not per seat: specialist packs are $99 a month ($79 billed annually), workflow workspaces $199 ($169), and the portal workspace $299 ($249). A firm with at least one Practice + AI seat gets its most valuable selected module included. Firms of 10 or more seats can contact us for a quote.

How is MCP offered?

Research MCP and Workspace MCP are included with Practice + AI and Staff + AI seats, with no per-call charge. For teams that don't use LawHand, Research MCP is a separate product, offered as a controlled pilot at $0.45 per successful tool call. That product is research-only, with no workspace or matter access, and coverage depends on the configured public-authority corpus.

Do administrators count as licensed users?

Yes. Firm workspaces are tenant-isolated. Storage encryption and model-provider data handling additionally depend on the infrastructure, provider, and tenant policy configured for your deployment.
